you can help!
Moving our family to Charleston is not a “career move.” Rather, it is a mobilization of Christ-followers to a mission to expand the Kingdom of God. There are several families pulling up roots, selling possessions, and packing up boxes with the sole purpose of answering a call that we all heard from God’s Spirit.
What this means in turn is that this mission is bigger than us. He has called us and the other families on the team to physically bring the Kingdom to Charleston. At the same time, He is calling church-planting networks to train us, organizations to equip us, residents to listen to us, area leaders to trust us, and other Christ-followers to resource us.
The latter, obviously, is where we hope you come in. The fact that you’ve already read this much of our blog says you have a curiosity about what God is already doing through River Church. We know the feeling. It’s the same feeling that got us into this craziness to begin with. We heard a little something about it and started asking questions. As we got answers, we started realizing that our hearts resonated with the vision of River Church. And then we prayed, telling God, “Let us know what we can do to help.” Long story short…He told us to GO.
What about you?
Does something inĀ your heart resonate with the idea of establishing a new community of Christ-followers in a beautiful city where the story of God isn’t as well known as it should be? Charleston is filled with a diverse group of people with unique gifts and talents…artists, historians, teachers, lawmakers, salespeople. Imagine hundreds, if not thousands of these folks falling in love with Jesus Christ and allowing their lives to be used by Him to make His Name known.
If this vision gets you as excited as it does us, then you may be hearing the same voice we heard. And if you are, there are a few ways you can get caught up in this adventure right along with us.
Right now, River Church is still mostly a vision. There are a few families who have already relocated, and they are already gathering regularly with folks they’ve met in the community. But for River Church to become what we envision, it needs prayer, encouragement and resources. Has God called and equipped you to help supply these needs?
You may want to commit to praying for our family and for River Church. You can do that here. Or maybe commit to leveraging your resources to help financially equip our family for ministry. You can sign up to give regularly here, and you can make a donation here that will help cover relocation expenses, deposits on a rental home and utilities, and help prepare our current home for sale or lease. Finally, you can encourage us. This is a tough transition no matter how exciting it may sound. And the enemy is already tossing things in our path to discourage us from keeping our eye on the goal to win the prize.
If you’ve read this far, I venture to guess that God is calling you to do something. This means He has given you a gift or resource that is needed to facilitate the success of River Church. We are extremely excited to journey with you, and we look forward to sharing many years of God stories in your life and ours.
Thank you for partnering with us.
